NANICE ELLIS: “Are You Suffering from PAST LIFE Traumatic Stress Disorder?”

Most of us know that unhealed emotional trauma can result in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and many of us have even experienced it. But, did you know that we can also carry unhealed emotional trauma from past lives? In fact, there’s a direct link between past life trauma and present day fears, phobias and panic attacks. If you’re experiencing any of these conditions, you could be suffering from Past Life Traumatic Stress Disorder!

Maybe you’re wondering, how can you carry unhealed emotional trauma from one life to the next?

Although you may live many lives and incarnate as very different characters, your soul remains with you from life to life, and even though you may not remember a thing, your soul maintains the memories from all lifetimes and keeps track of “unfinished business.” So, each time you reincarnate, you take it all with you, and this means that if you die with unhealed emotional wounds in one lifetime, you’re born with the same unhealed emotional wounds in another.

Past Life Trauma — Current Day Issues!

Most of us have no memories of traumatic events that occurred in other lifetimes. Nonetheless, when we carry unhealed past life trauma into our present life, it often manifests as some type of distressing issue that is somehow related to the original event.

When past life trauma surfaces through current life issues, it often triggers Past Life Traumatic Stress Disorder, and, as a result, we might experience irrational fears, anxiety, phobias or panic attacks.

Here are some examples of how Past Life Traumatic Stress Disorder shows up:

  • If you were ever severely punished for not following the rules in a past life, you may have an irrational fear of authority.
  • If you were ever rejected or abandoned in a past life, you may have an irrational fear of being different or not fitting in.
  • If you were ever enslaved or imprisoned in a past life, you may have an irrational fear of losing freedom.
  • If you were ever excommunicated for voicing your beliefs or taking a stand in a past life, you could have a fear of being seen or heard (by the way, this is often the cause of public speaking phobias).

Furthermore, when the same type of trauma is experienced in more than one lifetime, past life scars often become amplified, and, subsequently, with each repetitive experience, the symptoms of Past Life Traumatic Stress Disorder intensify.

Also, keep in mind that irrational fears and phobias can include basically anything associated with trauma — even as simple as the fear of pencils or shoelaces.

Unfortunately, until we understand the cause of our irrational reactions, we have no control over the triggers.

Traumatic Death

Oftentimes, Past Life Traumatic Stress Disorder is the result of a traumatic death. For instance, one of my friends had panic attacks whenever someone touched his neck or he had to wear a necktie. Not surprisingly, he often had “flashbacks” of being strangled to death in a past life.

Here are some more examples of how a traumatic death can result in present day fear:

  • If you ever died by drowning, you could have an irrational fear of water.
  • If you ever fell to your death, you could have an irrational fear of heights.
  • If you ever perished in a burning building, you could have an irrational fear of fire.
  • If you were ever fatally trapped, you could have an irrational fear of being confined (claustrophobia).
  • If you were ever killed by a ferocious animal or deadly insect, you could have an irrational fear of certain animals or insects.
  • If you were ever accused of being a witch or burned at the stake for possessing psychic powers, you could have an irrational fear of sharing your gifts.

Frozen to Death

For most of my life, I had an irrational fear of being cold, and, needless to say, this made long, winter months quite unbearable. Honestly, whenever I was cold, I would instantly go into mild shock, and while I couldn’t think clearly, I felt like I was going to die.

Then, one brisk autumn evening, I got terribly lost while hiking through the wilderness alone. As the sun began to set and I was beginning to feel very cold, that familiar panic started to takeover. But this time, something different happened. Suddenly, I experienced myself as a tribal warrior who lived in another era. Evidently, I just lost a major battle, and while I was fatally injured and all alone, I was left to die in the frozen wilderness.

After remembering this slow and brutal death, I finally understood my irrational fear of the cold — and why I associated it with death. Believe it or not, after I recalled this memory, the fear of being cold completely disappeared, and, in fact, winter became my favorite season!

The Purpose of Re-enacting Past Life Wounds

Let’s be clear; whenever past life trauma manifests as current day issues, it is never due to punishment nor karma. Instead, past life trauma is carried from life to life in order to support our human survival and spiritual evolution.

You see, in response to past life wounds, we develop survival mechanisms, such as specific fears, anxieties and phobias, and due to these protective mechanisms, we automatically stay away from potential risks that could result in similar traumas.

Additionally, when emotional wounds are healed during a human incarnation, we master certain virtues that our souls intended to attain — and this is why we experience emotional wounds in the first place.

In a nutshell, while past life trauma is carried from life to life in order to protect us from similar threats, it also gives us the opportunity to reap intended virtues as we heal.

Repeat, Repeat… Heal!

While past life fears keep us from partaking in risky behaviors and also provide opportunities to attain virtues, they also prevent us from living our lives, fulfilling our dreams, and reaching our full potential.

Furthermore, even though details may change from life to life, until we heal our emotional wounds, we could repeat the same type of issues over and over again.

Although free will allows us to ignore our wounds indefinitely, if we don’t properly address the cause, these issues inevitably escalate in frequency and intensity, and, at some point, and in some lifetime, they likely result in a personal crisis that cannot be ignored. Eventually, when emotional pain reaches a personal breaking point and familiar coping strategies no longer provide relief, we inevitably seek healing.

However, keep in mind that you don’t need to reach a breaking point in order to heal and you don’t need to repeat the same issues lifetime after lifetime.

Simultaneous Lifetimes

Before we continue, I’d like to acknowledge that the term “past life” could be very misleading. You see, according to quantum physics, all moments of time occur simultaneously, and, if this is true, it means that we are actually living parallel lives. Although we are only aware of this “current” life, who knows what we experience when we’re asleep or when we’re blinking in and out of reality countless times a minute.

Nonetheless, this concept doesn’t change a thing, and, in fact, when it comes to healing, there’s no time like the present!

So, how do we heal past life trauma?

Well, some people choose to heal past life trauma through past life regressions, and this means that under hypnosis they “go back” and remember one or more past lives where they experienced a particular trauma. Although this may sound somewhat “woo woo,” I personally guided past life regressions for many years and the results were often astounding.

Sometimes, just remembering past life trauma is enough to heal it, (for example, my fear of the cold), but, more often than not, healing is a process that must be actively embraced. Therefore, if you want to heal past life trauma through a past life regression, remembering your past lives is just the beginning. This is why it’s important to find a reputable past life regression therapist who knows how to work through multiple life traumas.

Present Life Healing

Even though it might be interesting to remember who you were or what you experienced in one or more past lives, there’s actually no need to do so. In fact, you don’t need to remember past life trauma in order to heal past life wounds. Since the same issues repeat from one life to the next, and all lifetimes are interconnected through your soul, when an emotional wound is healed in any lifetime that same emotional wound is simultaneously healed in all incarnations.

Therefore, by healing emotional wounds as they surface in your current reality, you inevitably heal those same wounds in all lifetimes!

So, exactly how do we heal emotional wounds?

Well, before we can heal an emotional wound, not only must we identify it, we must also address the real cause. Although we tend to confuse emotional wounds with precipitating traumatic events, emotional wounds are not caused by traumatic experiences!

Regardless of details or timelines, emotional wounds are caused by emotional reactions (how we react to trauma). For instance, if we react to trauma by adopting disempowering beliefs or abandoning ourselves, we self-inflict emotional wounds. Although few can argue that emotional wounds appear incredibly real, if it were not for emotional pain, it would be easy to see that all emotional wounds are based on disempowering beliefs and/or self-abandonment.

Since there’s no quick fix or easy escape, emotional wounds remain with us until we release disempowering beliefs and we stop abandoning ourselves.

By healing these two pivotal components during this lifetime, you inevitably heal all lifetimes!

Although you may have tragically died in a past life, the fact that you’re reading this now clearly demonstrates that you really didn’t die — did you?

So, despite one or more traumatic deaths, the Real You survived! If this doesn’t prove that you’re a powerful and eternal being, I don’t know what does?

However, if you still need more proof, please consider that your nighttime dreams might also reflect this truth. For instance, if you’ve ever been harmed or killed in a dream, you know that when you wake-up in the morning, you’re perfectly fine. Well, believe it or not, life operates in much the same way.

In fact, since we are all “willing dreamers” in the dream of life, every one of us withstands an array of challenges, triumphs and adventures throughout many lifetimes. Yet, no matter how realistic the dream called “life” may be, when we awaken in the afterlife, we are completely unharmed, no worse for wear, and immensely better for the experience.

So, rest assured, not only is your survival guaranteed, the ultimate destination ensures a successful outcome!

Just like light illuminates darkness, this truth can heal you and set you free!

If you can relate to, or have been called a combination of any of these words, chances are you’re part of a unique group of people: the Empaths.

Occurring in an estimated 5% of the population, Empaths are known for their highly developed ability to sense the emotions and thoughts of the people around them. As author and empath Christel Broederlow put it “empaths often possess the ability to sense others on many different levels”, this includes the abilities to intimately understand what a person desires, yearns for, and is currently feeling, suffering or thinking, as well as the ability to feel other people’s bodily illnesses. These occurrences manifest themselves as energy vibrations that the finely tuned empath can pick up on, or “tune into”.

Commonly identifying as clairsentients and HSP’s, Empaths possess an ability that is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, the empath is an excellent listener and counselor, knowing the best way to comfort and assist those around them. On the other, being an empath can be painful and tiring. It’s common for the empath to be weighed down and constantly congested with the negative emotional energy of others, often creating physical and psychological disharmony.

Although the empath has a wonderful gift, and is often greatly cherished by those around them, they are often challenged and confronted by a variety of misguided perceptions towards their innate gift.

Myths & Misunderstandings

“You need to grow some thicker skin! Stop being so overly sensitive.” I wish I could tell you how many times I heard that in my childhood! Growing up as an empath, you may have experienced similar insults from your parents, friends or peers, and perhaps even worse.

It’s not at all trendy or popular to be sensitive or feeling in our society that values efficiency, cold calculation and industrial resilience. Therefore, you may have experienced and still experience, a lot of antagonism towards your behavior as an Empath. I will explore 4 of these main misconceptions below.

Myth #1 – Empaths are navel-gazing and self-absorbed.

Truth – We often focus more on others than on ourselves.

It’s true that Empaths are often unexplainably moody and quiet on the outside. However, this isn’t because they’re excessively absorbed thinking too much about themselves and their feelings. Rather, the empath is often deeply affected by the exterior emotions of others that he experiences as his own. The empath’s ability to intuitively feel the feelings of others is what weighs him down so much. In fact, it’s characteristic of the empath to pay more attention to others needs than his own.

Myth #2 – Empaths are mentally ill.

Truth – We are magnets for negative energy. This often creates psychological disbalance within us.

Empaths are excellent listeners, confidants and counselors. For this reason, it’s common for people to be drawn towards their sincere and caring natures, almost like magnets. Therefore, empaths often experience a lot of “emotional baggage dumping” from other people, and have difficult releasing themselves from the negative energy that remains in their minds and bodies afterwards.

Unfortunately, this can lead to a lot of lingering depressive emotions that the empath is left with. Thus, the empath can appear to be mentally ill and depressed, and in some cases legitimately is. However, in most cases the empath is congested with remnants of harmful emotional energy, like sinuses are congested with mucus during a flu virus.

The root of the problem doesn’t lie with the empath , it’s a result of their outer emotional climate.

Myth #3 – Empaths are psychologically frail.

Truth – We are biologically programmed to be more sensitive and in tune with our surrounding environment.

As empath Nicole Lawler wrote, Empaths are essentially “walking around in this world with all the accumulated karma, emotions, and energy from others”. Understandably, this results in a lot of inner emotional tension for the empath who is more prone to crying and exhibiting other signs of “weakness”.

Additionally, the empath finds it extremely difficult to partake in many “normal” activities. For instance, watching a movie about Nazi concentration camps is extremely emotionally upsetting for the empath , and getting a job in an office is overwhelming and tiring for the empath who is bombarded with other people’s emotions constantly. Therefore, it’s not surprising that the empath is often perceived as “wussy”, “frail” or “weak minded” to the person who fails to comprehend the constant pressure the empath lives under.

The fact that most empaths aren’t driven clinically insane by the constant emotional flux they experience is testimony enough to their mental strength.

Myth #4 – Empaths are lazy.

Truth – We often lack mental, emotional and physical energy due to our intense empathetic ability to understand others.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) amongst other physical issues like headaches, insomnia and Fibromyalgia, have all been commonly attributed to Empaths.

If our minds are constantly overloaded with stress, tension and pressure, it therefore translates that our bodies are as well. This often results in sicknesses such as the ones mentioned above. Thus empaths often lack the energy and therefore desire to do many things, preferring to relax (including taking naps) instead.

Meditation is good for the soul, for the whole body and your mind.  Go indulge today!

If you want an all-out activity that is going to soothe every single part of you and your senses — go meditate!!  It doesn’t have to be long, hard or full on.  Meditation comes in all shapes and sizes — you just have to find the ones that fit.

A really easy meditation to do is mindfulness — this can be done anywhere — making dinner, washing the dishes, hanging the clothes out.  All it asks you to do is be fully present in the moment, focusing on what you are doing, listening to the sounds around you and just being in that moment.

If you struggle with mind chatter, then guided meditation or ones where you need to chant may work for you as it helps to keep those natters to the background.  I personally love going outside and focussing on the sounds around me.

The birds chattering, the distant sound of cars.  Feeling the sun or breeze on my face, really helping to anchor me in my body as I take in those sensations.  Not only does it bring your stress levels down, it allows your body to go into its optimum level for relaxation and healing.  It gives your mind permission to take a break — although your mind will still have thoughts, so do not think you are doing it wrong just because it is still carrying on, it is its job.

Just allow them to flow without focussing on them. It brings your soul to the fore as well.  So it is really the best all round exercise that you can possibly do for your wellbeing.  Even if you think you are not a meditator — and my hand is up on this one.  Keep at it and give yourself a few minutes every day, increasing if you can to get some of that deep AH into your day.

Your heart, body, soul and mind will thank you!

Every cause of disease first begins with an imbalance in the body’s energy systems, specifically, the interaction between how the heart communicates with the brain and the body. Fix that and there is no disease, ever. The heart can produce an electrical field 100 times greater than the brain and a magnetic field 5000 times greater. Which one are you using to heal?

Emotions are vibrations which influence consistently our reality. We not only think and work our way through a day, meeting, assignment, but also feel and believe our way through it. The outcome depends on both.

Simply put, the number one cause of health is your energetic and emotional state. How you connect emotionally to your overall wellness and wellbeing is more important than any supplement, food, exercise or health treatment. There is only one cause of disease and that has to do with the energy and frequency imbalances that exist within your body. Rectify that, and disease cannot exist… it would be impossible.

All the emotions are varieties of two: fear and love: Fear/stress is contagious and causes contraction: inhibits creativity, brain activity, inhibits the immune system, selective perception and over extensive periods of time leads to breakdown. Love (positive beliefs and emotions) has high impact and causes expansion: creativity, physical and mental endurance, more productivity in shorter time because we take decisions quicker because we are receptive and highly perceptive. This a question of Math, HeartMath (as per the contribution in this field of the HeartMath Institute): when one has accurate information, takes better decisions.

The quality of the field one creates with his heart influences his experience and reality.

The research behind the evolution of HeartMath came from the idea that the body’s emotional response to events do not always occur from “top-down” processing (i.e., the brain sends signals to the heart and other organs, and the body responds accordingly). Rather, it has now proven that often times our emotional state triggers our heart to send out its own signals to the brain and other organs, and the body then responds accordingly. For instance, while two-way communication between the cognitive and emotional systems is hard-wired into the brain, the actual number of neural connections going from the emotional centers to the cognitive centers is greater than the number going the other way. Have you ever: Made a “rash” decision? Done something dangerous on impulse? Taken a risk because you believed in it? This research helps explain the influence emotions have on our ability to think and act.

In fact, researchers at HeartMath have determined that the physiology and nerve centers of the heart are so complex and active, that they constitute a “brain” all on their own, termed a “mini-brain.” We now know that the heart contains cells that produce and release norepinephrine and dopamine, neurotransmitters once thought to be produced only by the brain and ganglia outside the heart. Even more remarkable is the discovery that the heart produces oxytocin -the “love hormone” – in concentrations that are as high as those in the brain.

 

7 Simple actions to create positive feelings:

 

1. Think about the colleagues who helped you today.  Thank them in your heart. Think about your current assignments. Know that they will work out well and work from this space.

2. What is it that you would like to have professionally?  A new project? With whom? Think about it in detail, be specific and imagine you are already working on it.

3. Entertain the feeling of celebration that arises in your heart.  From this space take the appropriate actions to make it happen.

4. Find ways to help your colleagues, or make them feel that you care.  Do one (in)visible act of kindness per day or more if you want to

5. Before starting your work day give thanks and envision it the way you want it to be.

6. When finishing your work day give thanks and clear it of negative emotions (which come out of fear that we know now is illusion).  Do not take them at home or preserve for the next day.

7. Smile – The time of crisis is literally here: there is the fast pace of our world, the assault of too much to do with too little time and resources. Being in the present moment is just a concept for most of us and has little translation to daily life practice. Fear is wide spread and is polluting us on a very cellular level: hypertension, autoimmune diseases, cancer, infertility, chronic back problems, anxiety, and depression; the list could continue forever. The difference is how we interpret crisis because we can be at complete peace in the midst of chaos.

 

Can we live the life we want? Can we be authentic in our speech? Can we identify and release our underlying limiting beliefs so that we begin a new commitment towards genuine compassion, abundance, love and connection? Your commitment will show in your body and intentions.

Science tells us that it is completely normal and healthy to cry, but some cultures take a strong stand against crying, most especially for men. Some parents teach their male children not to cry saying that it is a sign of weakness or vulnerability. However, what these parents fail to realize is that crying has plenty of benefits that can contribute to the overall well being of their children.

Crying can help you connect with others

You might be uncomfortable to reveal how you truly feel to others but being vulnerable is the best way that you can show someone that you are open to establishing a deeper connection with him.

Crying can help you to move on

Sometimes relationships can go downhill, whether it is a relationship with your family, friend or a special someone. When you are suffering from the burden of sorrow over the loss of a person dear to your heart, crying can help you move forward. It allows you to confront your feelings without fear. Sure, you might break down for a while, but in you will gradually feel relieved and when you do, you can move on with your life.

Crying flushes out toxins from your body

Science actually tells us that crying can help our body flush out harmful toxins. Dr. William H. Frey II at the St. Paul-Ramsey Medical Center discovered that stress-related tears help your body to get rid of toxic chemicals that raise cortisol or what is generally called as the “stress hormone.” This explains why we feel better after crying.

Crying can help you with stress

Our emotions work like ropes. When we let our emotions to take over us, it is the same as allowing ourselves to be tied up with ropes. We are incapacitated. We cannot move and we feel helpless. There are many reasons to be emotional and it does not only involve romantic affairs or family problems. It can also involve issues at work or with yourself. Whatever the reason is, crying can help you deal with stress. Professor Roger Baker, a consultant clinical psychologist at Bournemouth University, supports this notion. He asserts that crying allows us to transform our sorrows into something tangible and that significantly helps with reducing trauma.

Do not be afraid to cry. Crying is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign that you are strong enough to face what is eating you up inside. It is a sign that you are not running away from the things that should be confronted. Cry and let your tears heal you from negativity.

I would like to end my article with this small quote from talks given by a wise mystic Osho:

“Tears have to be given a new meaning, a new poetry and a totally new dimension – which they have lost because humanity has lived in misery and tears have become part of that misery. Secondly, because humanity has been dominated by man he has made it a point of his ego and pride that he will not cry. It is feminine to cry, it is womanish to have tears. It is not true. It is an ugly, male chauvinist idea – not only ugly, but unnatural and untrue, because man’s eyes have as many tear glands as women’s eyes have. Nature has not made any difference in tear glands.”

More men go mad than women, for the simple reason that man goes on controlling. A moment comes that the repression becomes too much and there is a breakdown. The woman does not control; when she feels like crying, she cries. She is more natural than man. That has given her a few more experiences that man has missed. The woman is healthier; she lives longer, five years more than man. She is more calm and quiet.

It has been told to us that tears are a symptom of weakness – they are not. Tears can cleanse not only your eyes, but your heart too. They soften you, it is a biological strategy to keep you clean, to keep you unburdened. It is now a well-known fact that less women go mad than men. And the reason has been found to be that women can cry and weep more easily than men. Even to the small child it is said, “Be a man, don’t cry like a woman!”

“But if you look at the physiology of your body, you have the same glands full of tears whether you are man or woman. It has been found that less women commit suicide than men. And of course, no woman in history has been the cause of founding violent religions, wars, massacres. If the whole world can learn to cry and weep again it will be a tremendous transformation, a metamorphosis. … ”
