INSPIRATION FOR THE DAY ~ Moments with Millie: “Never Too Late”

I visited my elderly client who is under hospice care this morning.  She was asleep in a wheelchair in the hall of the facility.  I grabbed another wheelchair and sat in front of her.

She woke to my touch.  “Hello, darling!  How are you?”

Disoriented she looked at me and said that she was okay but didn’t like where she was at.  She went on to complain until I smiled and asked her a few questions.  She nodded then and agreed it wasn’t so bad.  Her dementia has progressed significantly the last month as she is transitioning.  She even said she was waiting for me but she has no clue who I am.

“Tell me something new, my love?”  I asked.

“I was at a concert yesterday.  The entire day.  They played black people music.”  Her blue eyes opened widely.

“What’s black people music?”  I asked waiting for some logical answer.  She has been a racist all of her life and extremely feisty.  She’s been verbal about it.  But today I saw change.

“You know… black music!”

“You mean, like soul music.… Music that gets into your soul and makes you move with the best beat?”

“I guess.  They asked me if I wanted to stay and I told them I was happy to.  I needed that music.”  In the midst of her delusion “they” are people of authority.  She continued explaining how the music made her feel.  She kept sighing and sharing the lightness in her body.

It was absolutely delightful to witness this.  Her story was fascinating.

I got off the wheelchair and dropped to my knees in front of her.  She touched my cheek.  I rubbed her hands.  I kissed her soft skin.

“Oh sweetheart, I feel that’s heaven.  Don’t you?  There must be soul music up there. I like to believe that there is the sound of black people jazzy music in the afterlife.  I want to believe there is some Louisiana symphony that makes you come alive….”

She interrupted me,  “Yessss!  I want that.  I want to dance to black people music in heaven.  Oh yesss!”  Her eyes tearing with such loving awareness.  It was pure yumminess.  And a gift of awareness for me.

Folks, it’s never too late to have a change of heart.  It’s never too late to change your ways.  It’s never too late to accept the world and rejoice in diversity.  Ohmygosh…. to witness this woman transform before her death and allow herself the acknowledgment of equality is huge.  She’s 85.  It’s never ever too late.

I walked out listening to the sounds of soul music from heaven.  She’s ready to go home.  I hear the trumpets playing….

CONSCIOUS REMINDER: “How To Keep Your Cosmic Magic In Check”

It is not easy being spiritual in a world which is so obsessed with hate and hurt. How is one supposed to keep their vibrations high when everyday so many things happen to make them feel frustrated and angry?

It can be a continuous struggle to try and be compassionate even on a daily basis. And that is just the natural state of things. What is one supposed to do on days when they are personally attacked? It is so tempting to be vengeful and angry.

And yet, you know better. You know that you shouldn’t let it all get to you. So how do you stop yourself from projecting your hurt onto others? How do you hold on to your compassion when everyday you get a million reasons not to?

Here are a few things which might help:

1. Make a resolution that you will not let mean people affect your power to love

People are mean and rude and many like to inflict hurt on others. But most of the times they are only acting out their own traumas. The reason they are being so hateful towards others is because they never had much love to talk about.

Are you willing to break that chain of hurt? Will you be able to love them, even when they are ready to tear you down? You never know, who might need your love the most.

2. Turn inward and create a sanctuary for yourself

The outside world will always be full of drama and hurt. You need to make yourself as an island which doesn’t get troubled by the choppy waters of hate. And in time you will be able to not get affected by any of it.

You know that your mission is to spread love in this world which needs it so desperately. So make a resolve to yourself that you will love, and be ready to show people the way no matter what they throw at you.

3. Teach others by your example

You know that your most important mission is to spread love. Each and every action that you do in support of this mission affects not just that person, but every other human who sees it. Your example can help a lot more people than you can personally.

So embody your beliefs. Even on days when it is hard for you to love others, chose to love yourself. Don’t judge yourself too harshly if you are not able to forgive someone. You will eventually if you don’t bring yourself down first.

4. Always be sincere to your own self

Always be open to yourself. Don’t try to hide from yourself in excuses and make beliefs. The first person you need to be honest to us yourself. Never ignore your feelings- good or bad. If you have been feeling inadequate don’t brush those feelings under the rag.

Talk about them to yourself. Confronting yourself is the only way to improving yourself. Accept that you will have good days and bad ones. Don’t let that affect your relationship with yourself.

5. Think how you can bring love in every situation

It is easy to love when people are nice to you. It is easy to love when you are calm and composed and in the sanctuary of your home. But it is not easy to love when you are stuck in traffic, the weather is too hot and someone is shouting at you to move your car when the traffic is at standstill.

It is in those moments that you need to bring love the most. It is natural to feel frustrated and angry, but make a conscious choice not to. That is how you can bring love in situations where there is none.

STEPHANIE LUCAS: “Don’t ‘Dis’ Your ‘Appointment’ with the Higher Self: 5 Tips to Master the Soul”

Art-6A-700x325

The Higher Self is the aspect of ourselves that many of us concentrate on becoming, and mastering The Soul is a part of the path to enlightenment. The Soul itself is a nurturing force that directly helps us become connected with our authentic, Higher Self that we ascribe to be. Here are some ways to ensure you keep that appointment with your Higher Self and ‘dis’ old thought patterns and habits that hold you back.

1. Embrace an Attitude of Gratitude

We all have ‘off’ moments, as in moments when falling off a cliff might seem better than facing our current perception of reality. However, it’s in these challenging times that embracing gratitude is vital. When you feel stressors taking hold of your soul, look for anything you can to express gratitude for, and initiate an internal celebration of everything that is good in your life and be mindful of Living in the Now.

Gratitude is at the core of every human being’s essence, and when you are attuned with this state of mind your perceptions begin to change. Your attentions commence to focus more on the quality of your consciousness rather than letting the small stuff lower your vibrations and drain your energy. Living in gratitude allows you to worry less and live more, which nurtures and develops the soul.

2. Vanquish Fears, Bring Joy to Your Life

Fear is a necessary emotion that can help us avoid dangerous situations as a part of our survival instincts. So the problem with fears is not necessarily in having them, but when you live in fear or allow it to control you, it hampers you from achieving your highest potential within the Mind Body Spirit realm. Fears cause worries, doubts, lack of self worth, indifference, stress, and it can also manifest itself in ways that cause physical ailments.

When you free yourself of your fears and allow happiness and abundance to flow through you, you’re putting out that energy into the universe and breaking energetic bonds that tie you to those feelings. Add a little bit of joy to your life and Overcome Adversity, and raise your vibrational frequency, and let your soul shine.

3. Optimism and Confidence are Contagious

One of the best ways to master your soul is to emanate and uplift others with love. As you embrace gratitude and vanquish fears, you’ll find yourself filled with optimism and an air of confidence that others can’t help but embrace. The more positive your outlook is, the more resilient you become emotionally, and optimism is also linked to one’s ability to heal physically and stave off aging.

Confidence and enthusiasm about who you are is not to be confused with Ego when the intentions behind them allow you to acknowledge and embrace your talents wholly. When you are confident your vibrations are raised, you can tap into your subconscious and authentic self more freely, and manifest a reality that nourishes your mind, body, spirit, and soul.

4. Love Life and Discover Compassion: The Keys to the Soul

Once you discover your enthusiasm, confidence, an Attitude of Gratitude, and let go of fears, transitioning into a state of passionately loving everything about life is as easy as gliding naked down a slide laden with baby oil. Essentially when you embrace pure love and compassion, you are baring your soul. Where there is love for the self and others there is compassion, which is the greatest gift one can give or receive.

By accepting people for who they are and where they are on their journey without passing judgments, labeling them, or having expectations – you are showing compassion. Rather than the aforementioned, low-vibrational reactions, you’ll find yourself being their biggest fan, giving them love and light when they need it – even if it’s just by smiling at a complete stranger.

5. Name It All Good & Find the Lesson in Everything

Keeping your mind, body, and spirit free of negative thoughts and energies keeps you from propelling those into the universe and projecting them onto other people. This in itself is good for the soul, as thoughts are energy and you get back what you put in – so name it all good – even those things that you might not find the immediate beauty in. Facing these challenges and working with them frees you from their grip. Eventually, you will find a LESSON in that strife that is rich material for your growth, and you’ll understand the beauty and goodness in that experience.

Cultivation of the soul, communing with the Divine, becoming acquainted with the Authentic Self – don’t disappoint yourself by not wholly embracing your full potential…
