MICHELLE MAXWELL: “‘Are You A Good Ghost Or A Bad Ghost?’ — How To Banish Troublesome Household Entities”

I’m a natural ‘ghostbuster’ and never have to worry… my home is always a sacred space without interference. If I want contact I will initiate it… otherwise it’s “Buzz off, Jack!” 👻

Let’s face it, sensing an uninvited presence in one’s home is never a pleasant revelation. We invest a great deal in our homes — financially, personally, and even spiritually — so it’s a bit of an unpleasant surprise to find an additional “guest” at our table.

However, many spectral entities leave remnants of themselves in the world of the living, and more often than not are no cause for concern. Some even provide protection and assistance when we least expect it!

The flip-side, however, is that there are indeed malevolent entities that can take up residence in one’s home and cause a great deal of annoyance, if not pain and outright misfortune. At first it can be hard to differentiate between the two, as it often takes awhile for spectral evidence to mount. Misplaced personal items, broken appliances, and bothersome noises may seem innocent enough or go undetected for weeks or even months before proving otherwise.

So how can you know if your ghostly tenant is worth keeping around or evicting? For starters, pay attention to the signs. Not all entities leave overt evidence of their presence, but you can usually detect subtleties: cold spots in various parts of the house/apartment, the feeling of being watched, and little shifts in the placement of household objects. Pets will often act agitated or avoid going into certain spaces, while some will growl or bark at a pointed spot when seemingly nothing is there.

Conversely, the manifestations may be more severe. You or members of your household may start getting sick for no apparent reason, or become ill-tempered. Appliances may break down and, in extreme instances, objects may be thrown about or smashed. An overall feeling of doom may linger over the place, evoking feelings of fear and despair.

Once you’ve assessed the evidence, you can decide what steps to take from there. If you are fortunate enough to sense that the presence in your home is innocuous enough — if not benevolent — then you needn’t do much to appease them. Simply going about your business and allowing them to go about theirs is usually enough. If you want to make an “official” gesture of acknowledgement and welcome, you can set out fresh flowers or keep a votive candle lit in a part of the home where the spirit is most often felt. If there are particular offerings you feel the presence would like, by all means leave them out as well. Less-is-more gestures are generally preferred by elementals, as excessive attention can disrupt their natural vibrations.

If you feel your household entity is of a more malicious sort, then you will need to take the necessary precautions as soon as possible. Please note: if these steps do not take effect within a week or so, a professional may need to be consulted. Certain energies can be extremely dangerous, and only experienced and reputable practitioners should be called upon to deal with them. If you feel your efforts are not proving successful then do not put your safety at risk!

That said, even less pleasant entities can often be dealt with by employing a few simple DIY measures. Before you do anything else, it is crucial to purify or “smudge” your space. Using sage or palo santo, go from room to room at least once a day and thoroughly seal the windows, corners, and doorways with the smoke. This will immediately cleanse the space and drive away unpleasant energies. You may need to do this as often as it takes before the presence recedes completely.

Crystal gridding has also been proven effective in ridding a home of unwanted energies, as well as barricading against future assaults. There is a wealth of information available on crystal gridding, and it’s advisable to check online or at your local bookstore to find the best selection and layout for your situation. Black tourmaline, smokey quartz, selenite, and amethyst are among the most popular stones used for protection and reinforcement.

A more labor-intensive endeavor may involve doing some research on your home. While certain entities can attach themselves to individuals, following them wherever they go, others are bound to a specific place for a specific reason. If you live in a home with a researchable history, it may be worth your while to see what you uncover. This will also prove beneficial for any professionals you seek the assistance of.

What you absolutely SHOULD NOT do in the circumstances listed above is attempt to use any occult items in which you have no experience or understanding of. Real psychics devote decades to implementing these tools in their work, and a troubling number of cases have been reported where amateur misuse resulted in permanently disastrous results.

Ultimately, your intuition is your best tool when determining the nature of a spiritual presence in your home.

Our fears and imaginations can and do play tricks on us, and often turmoil in one’s personal life can impose itself on the places inhabited most intimately. Try to approach your situation with honesty and a sound mind, and once again, do not hesitate to call in a professional if you feel you are in over your head.

ALEXA PELLEGRINI: “Find Yourself: Mantras for Self-Discovery, Freedom and Joy”

Header-32-700x325

Our world is constantly evolving and constantly demanding that we, as a society and as individuals, evolve with it. Finding love and living an authentic lifestyle have become secondary to achieving professional success and financial security. Many of us become so immersed in our daily routines that over time, we lose touch with ourselves and our dreams.

In order to heal, we must understand that drive, ambition and materialism can only take us so far before we suffer under the weight of emptiness, regardless of how successful we are by society’s standards.  Even after achieving our goals, we may feel unsatisfied and continue to crave validation or material comforts to quiet an inner lack of self-acceptance and love. Where, then, can happiness be found?

As you embark on the soul’s journey to enlightenment, you will discover the greatest success you can attain is connecting with your higher self and integrating love into your life. ‘Happiness’ is not derived from the material, nor is it attainable only to a select few. Finding happiness is simple: when we release our obsessions over attaining the ‘perfect’ success and material security, we free our hearts and move closer to experiencing an authentic, joyful existence.

Why Recite Mantras? Mantras Guide Us to Love

By accessing the power of speech through mantras, you can re-frame your thinking to purify negativity with love. Mantras are simple yet powerful phrases that are continuously recited in order to provide a healing, stabilizing effect on the mind. The repetitious quality of mantras yield the potential to open doors to achieving love, happiness and meaningful accomplishments.

Anxiety, perfectionism, guilt and pessimism are common roadblocks to finding freedom from the ‘rat race’. The following mantras offers solutions to overcoming these barriers. Ideally, sit in a serene space and repeat each desired mantra at your preferred pace. Slow pacing will calm the heart and reduce anxiety. Fast pacing will provide an intense, regenerative effect that will increase your pulse and breathing; be aware of your energy levels during fast recitation.

Reciting mantras allows for self-acceptance and inner peace

1. Everything ends.

When you are overwhelmed by anxiety or believe you are ‘stuck’ in a situation, you must remember that everything ends. Life is composed of cycles; every negative cycle must occur for a positive cycle to begin. Even our most frustrating, terrible cycles will come to an end. A difficult situation is not a permanent barrier to any kind of happiness.

2: I am enough.

Perfectionism is a major roadblock to incorporating love and happiness into your life. Take a moment each day to remind yourself that you are enough. Who has told you that you are ‘not good enough’? Will punishing yourself bring love and prosperity? As you recite this mantra, look at yourself in the mirror–be your own best supporter. This mantra should be repeated to counteract negative self-talk.

3: My life is my own.

This is particularly helpful for those who feel obligated to take on the responsibilities of others, and for those who feel guilty for having their own needs. Only by honoring your true desires without being restricted by the unrealistic expectations of others will you ever truly find happiness. Every being is entitled to follow his unique path — excessive self-sacrifice will only create a harmful imbalance in your life and the lives of others.

4: Let love be my guide.

There is nothing as holistic and cleansing as integrating love as a guiding energy into your life. Give into the divine will of the Universe by releasing all negative thinking; when your mind and heart have opened, you will see joy unfold before your eyes. As you recite this mantra, imagine a warm, pink light wrapping around your body like a blanket, drawing out all darkness from your auric field.

L.J. DEVON: “Meditating For Just A Few Minutes Each Day Reduces Stress While Boosting Feelings Of Happiness”

meditating-at-sunset

We are constantly taking information in through our corporeal senses. Technology and social media are constantly streaming noise, beliefs, news and chatter into our hearts and minds. When we stop to meditate, all the noise dissipates. In this moment, we can now take a deep breath and listen.

In the stillness, in the quiet, everything changes. We are no longer dependent on information from our material world. When we stop, listen and breathe, we can begin to connect with ourselves on a much deeper level.

As we focus our attention inward, into imagination and visualization, relaxation ensues. The heart and the mind are put at ease. As breathing slows, as tension is released, blood pressure can normalize. In this state, our greatest fears and anxieties can be addressed.

Meditation benefits mind, body and spirit

In the January 2014 issue of JAMA Internal Medicine, researchers published a comprehensive review on the benefits of meditation. Not only is meditation observed and documented as a way to relieve anxiety, but it can also be used as a means to reduce pain and manage depression. These benefits are all possible because the sympathetic nervous system is engaged and regulated more effectively for important functions such as oxygen intake through deep breathing, a steadier heart rate and lowered blood pressure.

Burke Lennihan, a registered nurse who teaches meditation at the Harvard University Center for Wellness, says the benefits of meditation extend beyond just the physical. “True, it will help you lower your blood pressure, but so much more: it can help your creativity, your intuition, your connection with your inner self,” she says.

Various forms of meditation help people heal in different ways

Many people, not recognizing it, have engaged in forms of meditation throughout their lives to cope with big decisions and life changes. Walking meditation or prayerful meditation are two common examples where one tunes out of the material world and focuses the mind, heart or breath. The benefits of meditation are even more powerful when practiced regularly as a discipline.

Concentration mediation teaches one how to direct and focus the mind to achieve desired results. Mindfulness meditation helps one address the negative thoughts that enter the mind so they can be dealt with in a healthy manner. Heart-centered mediation helps one bring awareness to the powerful energy center in the chest, helping one manage emotions and relationship difficulties. In Tai chi and qigong, mediation is combined with physical exercise to enhance breathing and focus. In transcendental meditation, one repeats a mantra, whether it’s a word, phrase or sound, to quiet thoughts and to achieve greater awareness of oneself and the connection to all living things.

Burke Lennihan says that the most powerful experience is when two or more people gather to meditate. When a teacher is present, a verbal guided visualization can be initiated to stimulate the meditative experience of individuals and the group as a whole. Giving feedback after a group meditation, whether to the group as a whole or to a friend, is a powerful experience as well, as illusions and judgments of one another are shattered.

Lennihan says meditation doesn’t have to be complex. It can as simple as doing deep breathing exercises. Meditation can be a launching pad to connect with oneself, filter out negativity, deprogram from social conditioning, or connect with others on a deeper level.

Lennihan says that it’s great to start with 10 minutes of quiet time each day, and to set aside a safe, quiet place. “You’ll build up a special feeling there, making it easier to get into a meditative state more quickly,” she says. Symbols, photos, candles, herbs, crystals, essential oils and articles of nature are often used to surround a meditation practice to make the experience more personal, centered and meaningful for the individual.

The practice of meditation is an important healing art that can be a useful vehicle for finding inner calm and inner strength in the most stressful situations in life. These self-control techniques can help one manage stress more effectively, slow the aging process and create more positive interactions with others.

KATE SUPINO: “The Doorway of Your Imagination”

man-opening-door-to-bright-light.jpg

There was a point in your life; one single point, at your conception, when you were born into existence. Your life force entered into the world of form, yet you were not yet formed by the physical. At that moment, you were the essence of yourself, and nothing more. In the next instant, you became affected upon by the world of form. Everything physical; touch, sound, feel, changed and mutated your path. As you became physical, you became susceptible to the physical. You began to make your journey of physical life on this earth. Yet the pathway remained to your higher self, to the pure self that began your existence in the physical world. Some of us have not used the pathway ever, or not enough.

As the years have gone by, you may have felt that you lost yourself. The phrase, “I feel lost” is indicative of your having forgotten the pure you who came into this world in the form of your physical body. Many of us have become lost. The stories are different, but the message is the same. Maybe you have been beaten down by the world by ill treatment or wrong doings. Maybe you have been distracted by the temptations of temporary pleasures such as worldly goods, lusty desires, death-defying thrills or mind-numbing addictions. Many of us have lost our way home.

Meditation-7a

The pathway to your higher self is through a portal that allows movement in two directions. The door to the pathway is through your imagination, but imagination is not the pathway itself. Imagination is not the destination, the pathway or the journey. It is only the doorway. When you open the doorway of imagination, you are lighting up the pathway to your higher self; the self you were born to be.

When we speak of using our imagination to reach our higher self, we are speaking of reaching the higher self to receive the message of who we are, and where we are meant to go, what we are meant to do. Our imagination doorway is not limited by what others tell us we should do, or what people tell us we are incapable of doing. It is simply there, waiting for you to use it, and to seek the answers you will find. You will not find the answer here, in these words. You will only find answers when you use the key to open the door of your own imagination.
