What to do instead: Spend more time with people who uplift your energy.

There are people who simply good for your energy. Instead of being sucked into social media feeds, meet up with someone who uplifts your energy. Speak with them, converse on topics both of you are passionate about, talk about things that inspire you.

2. Poor sleep habits.

Regardless of what you do in the wee hours of the night, not having enough sleep is not good for your body. Your mind and body need adequate rest to be able to function well for the next day. A good sleep is a wise investment to gain more for the following day.

What to do instead: Have an exercise regimen.

Get your body moving. Engaging in physical activities gets your blood circulating and your energy going. Create a habit where you engage yourself physically, like swimming, running, yoga, walking, or any other activities that can sweat you.

3. Staying indoors all the time.

Not getting enough sunshine and fresh air is not good for your energy. The sun, most especially, provides you with warmth and uplifts your energy levels. It promotes the production of vitamins in your body. Staying indoors might make you depressed.

What to do instead: Go for a walk.

Walking has been found to have lots of mental and physical benefits. Aside from improving your mood and getting fresh air, walking is also the best way to get sunshine on your skin. The sun’s energy not only gives you a dose of vitamin D but it also purifies your mood.

4. Poor eating habits.

Poor eating habits accompanied by an unhealthy lifestyle is probably the greatest drainer of your energy. Most processed foods make you feel tired and lethargic. Organic and naturally grown foods are packed with natural energy that replenishes what your body loses.

What to do instead: Follow a nutritious diet.

A nutritious diet simply consists of naturally grown food. If it’s possible, grow your own organic veggies and fruits. Eating raw food is also a great way of getting the sun’s energy into your body.

5. Overthinking and stress.

Stress is the biggest enemy of the modern times. We overthink and stress about things daily. This is an addiction we all suffer from. Overthinking and dealing with stressful people every single day is almost inevitable, however, almost. It can be significantly reduced.

What to do instead: Do deep breathing and meditation exercises.

Deep breathing is a quick saver, especially when you’re feeling exhausted. Simply close your eyes, then slowly inhale and exhale deeply. Doing this for at least 5 minutes will calm your mind. A regular meditation is healthy and keeps you connected to your inner being.

Your body is said to be the temple of your soul. When you take good care of it, your soul is likely to shine, and this raises your energy levels. These are simple strategies, but if done on daily basis they can strengthen your energy field and keep negative energies at bay.

It’s not very meaningful

Television won’t bring you any of the change you want in your life or in the world. The Alternative Daily CEO Jake Carney commented that when he started this website, he didn’t turn a TV on for two years.

It promotes lazy thought

Television shows and advertising are aimed at the lowest common denominator. They recycle tired plot formulas that oversimplify characters, problems and the big issues. They promote easy and quick happiness (just buy a thing, just propose in a really clichéd way in public) and they rarely challenge viewers to think, criticize or question. Alternative Daily writer Megan Winkler commented that “most series really love characters who are self-destructive in one sense or the other. That’s a bummer. I’d like to see people recycling aluminum and plastic the way some writers recycle the same tired tropes again and again.”

It makes you eat unhealthy food

People tend to snack on unhealthy food while watching television. A professor of health sociology, Steve Gortmaker, noted that the advertising also “tends to increase intake of a range of unhealthy food products.”

It creates a world for you

“I hate the fact that I am being fed something by some Hollywood producer that probably makes a ton of money off me sitting on my ass, mouth wide open. Create your own world, create your own adventure instead,” Carney adds. When people watch television, they aren’t being mindful of themselves and their surroundings. Instead, they are attached to the story, visuals and sounds of the screen in front of them, he points out.

It promotes a sedentary lifestyle

According to author Bonny Rockette-Wagner, research indicates that we move even less while watching TV compared with other sedentary activities, like sitting at work. People watching television may not stand up for several hours, but even standing up for a minute every 20 minutes can help your body regulate important substances such as glucose and the hormone insulin.

It causes unrealistic expectations in relationships (and in most aspects of life)

The way television shows portray emergency rooms, police, romances, friendships and even weight-loss is unrealistic and can lead people to have false expectations in their own lives. “The more you believe in popular portrayals of romance on television, the less committed you may be to your real relationship,” the Huffington Post noted, based on research from the journal Mass Communication and Society.

It literally makes you dumber

People who watch more than three hours of TV per day over a period of 25 years were found to be more likely to perform poorly on various cognitive tests, researchers of another study found. Further, children under the age of two who watch television are likely to have decreased language development, according to David Hill, chairman of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Communications and Media. 

It promotes stereotypes and discrimination

From dating shows that objectify women to news shows with almost exclusively white male news anchors or young while blond female ones, to law and order shows where the criminals are destructive stereotypes of Latino and black criminals, television tends to reinforce racial and gender stereotypes, give voice to those who already have a disproportionate say in the world and ignore poverty and the working class altogether, instead of promoting human diversity. Even outside of the United States, American programming can dominate airtime, leaving little space for local identity, culture and issues.

It’s isolating

A few hours watching a movie with a partner or friends can be really nice, and even a bit of alone time with one’s favorite characters can be relaxing. But binge-watching can be a harmful addiction, an avoidance and distraction technique that is socially isolating.

There isn’t a lot of choice

There may be a lot of channels to choose from, but apart from the occasional good documentary or engaging historical drama, most of what airs on television is low quality, under-researched, badly written rubbish, leaving viewers with a false choice of many slightly varied types of crap.

It leaves you with less time for life

Everyone at The Alternative Daily agreed that too much television is a waste of time. A writer for The New York Times wrote in 1939, “TV will never be a serious competitor for radio because people must sit and keep their eyes glued on a screen; the average American family hasn’t time for it.”

How wrong they were! And I have to admit, I don’t understand how people who work one to two full-time jobs manage to squeeze in that average five hours a day of television. But they do, and while it makes sense that people who are exhausted find television an easier leisure activity than a trip to the park or cooking, moderation is key. Most of those five hours a day could be spent doing something much more rewarding, useful or truly relaxing.

It’s expensive

Americans spend more than $6 billion per year just paying for the electricity alone to power their television sets, according to Becoming Minimalist. And around $73 billion is spent on advertising every year in the United States. That’s more than the whole economies of many countries, just spent on manipulating people into buying stuff they don’t need and often things that objectively are bad for them.

It sets the bar low for who we look up to

Rather than admiring teachers, firefighters or other people dedicating their lives to helping others and to justice, a lot of people look up to the actors and actresses on television — the “celeb” culture. Idolizing these overpaid people for the most superficial reasons (who really knows them?) can be harmful to one’s self-esteem, with teenage girls in particular aiming to look like someone whose hair was professionally styled every 30 minutes.

We all need down time, time to relax and recharge and to process our day and our troubles. But you’re not processing much when you watch television, and there are lots of alternatives, such as a walk in the park, listening to or playing music, having a daydream (something that’s actually very creative), dancing, taking a bath or shower, getting a massage or having a cuddle, reading a book, taking part in a sport, walking a pet, having a chat over a hot chocolate and simple playing (yep, adults should do it too — it promotes curiosity). Mucking around with your photos, doing some craft or adult coloring, even finger-painting can be both good for your mind and relaxing.

Splitting is a very common Ego Defense Mechanism. Splitting (also called black and white thinking or all-or-nothing thinking) is the failure in a person’s thinking to bring together the dichotomy of both positive and negative qualities of the self and others into a cohesive, realistic whole. Usually one small piece of the overall picture is focused upon, while ignoring other details that the person is not willing to look at. It can be defined as the division or polarization of beliefs, actions, objects, or persons into good and bad by focusing selectively on the judgments or perceptions of positive or negative attributes. Splitting is a coping mechanism which diffuses the internal anxiety that arises from our inability to grasp the subtleties and complexities of a given situation or state of affairs. The situation is broken down into smaller parts in order to simplify and schematize the situation, thereby making it easier to think about and rationalize. Splitting also reinforces our sense of self as good and virtuous by effectively demonizing all those who do not share in our same opinions and values. Through the course of growing up from childhood into adulthood, we develop coping skills and will come to label people, places or objects in the environment that are acceptable or not acceptable in our belief systems. Ego defenses are similar to mental racketeering programs that are commonly used as coping mechanisms for reducing day to day anxiety, fears, and obsessions that are related to thought addiction or the need to control the environment. When we are addicted to our thoughts, we have lost balance with our feelings and sensory abilities that allow us to be fully present in the moment and be in a receptive mode to better discern the environment and their energies.

One day, friends and lovers are being thought of as personified virtue, and then when something displeases them, they may suddenly think that same person is evil or bad. (flipping back and forth).

Such a narrow compartmentalization of opposing energies leaves the person using splitting behaviors with a distinctly distorted picture of reality and limited within a small and restricted range of thoughts and emotions. It also affects that person’s ability to attract and maintain relationships, not only because splitting is tiresome and draining, but also because it can easily flip at any moment. One day, friends and lovers are being thought of as personified virtue, and then when something displeases them, they may suddenly think that same person is evil or bad. (flipping back and forth).

Splitting also arises in groups, when members of the in-group are seen to have mostly positive attributes, and whereas members of out-groups are seen to have mostly negative attributes, This is a phenomenon that contributes to group think and, indeed, may include inflexible attitudes of xenophobia. Xenophobia is intense or irrational dislike or fear of people that we consider strangers or that are unfamiliar to us.

Splitting in Relationships

Splitting creates instability in relationships because one person can be viewed as either personified virtue or personified vice at different times, depending on whether they gratify the subject’s needs or frustrate them. This, along with similar fluctuations in the experience and appraisal of the self, leads to chaotic and unstable relationship patterns, identity conflicts, and sudden mood swings. The therapeutic and healing process can be greatly impeded by these sudden emotional or mental oscillations, because the therapist or healing tool can be seen as all good or all bad. To attempt to overcome the negative effects of emotional instability and rapidly shifting moods from confusion around personal identity, constant re-interpretations and self-inquiries on personal progress to become more emotionally and mentally stable is needed.

Splitting contributes to unstable relationships and intense emotional experiences. Splitting is not uncommon during adolescence, but is regarded as temporary. Splitting has been noted especially with persons diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Treatment strategies have been developed for individuals and groups based on opening the dialogue to explore unconscious and conscious behaviors, and for deeper exploration between couples. There are also self-help books on related topics such as mindfulness and emotional regulation that have been helpful for individuals who struggle with the emotionally devastating consequences of splitting.

Narcissistic personality disorder

People matching the diagnostic criteria for narcissistic personality disorder also use splitting as a central Ego Defense Mechanism. Most often the narcissist does this as an attempt to stabilize their sense of self positivity in order to preserve their Self Esteem, by perceiving themselves as purely upright or admirable and others who do not conform to their will or values as purely wicked or contemptible. Given the narcissist’s perverse sense of entitlement and splitting, he or she can be equally geared, psychologically and practically, towards the promotion of projects simultaneously, while promoting the demise of that same collectively beneficial project. The cognitive habit of splitting also implies the use of other related Ego Defense Mechanisms, namely idealization and devaluation, which are preventative attitudes or reactions to narcissistic rage and narcissistic injury.

Depression

In depression, exaggerated all-or-nothing thinking can form a self-reinforcing Negative Ego cycle. These recurring or obsessive thoughts might be called emotional amplifiers because, as they go around and around, looping, and with each cycle of looping, they become more intense. Typical all-or-nothing thoughts:

  • My efforts are either a success or they are an abject failure
  • I am/other people are either all good or all bad
  • if you’re not with us, you’re against us

Triangulation

Triangulation is a situation in which one member will not communicate directly with another member, but will communicate with a third member, which can lead to the third member becoming part of the triangle. The concept originated in the study of dysfunctional family systems, but can describe manipulative behaviors used in other systems as well, including work or group dynamics. This is a common method to spin disinformation between multiple parties to increase Compartmentalization within organizations or employ divide and conquer strategies.

Triangulation can also be a form of “Splitting” in which one person plays the third family member against the one that he or she is upset about. This is playing the two people against each other, but usually the person doing the splitting will also engage in some form of character assassination, only with both parties.

The key word here to remember is Character Assassination. Gossip and triangulation is the method used for Character Assassination. The NAA Victim-Victimizer software is specifically designed to assassinate the character of any person that is publicly involved in the Law of One and Ascension material, especially if you are a Starseed and not culled by them in their programs of mind control, and including MILAB groomed abductees with genetic enhancements that turn into whistleblowers.

Compartmentalization

Compartmentalization need-to-know-basis is a mind control strategy to contain and control the field of academics, scientists, military and government personnel who are complicit in carrying out the destructive and harmful behavior of the NAA and Power Elite, and are rewarded monetarily and socially for going along with reinforcing the alien invasion of our planet and enslavement of humanity.

Compartmentalization is the Mind Control method used to shut down and destroy open mindedness, critical thinking, independent thinking and creative thinking. Compartmentalization is an unconscious psychological defense mechanism used to avoid cognitive dissonance, or the mental discomfort and anxiety caused by a person’s having conflicting values, cognitions, emotions, beliefs, etc. within themselves. Compartmentalization allows these conflicting ideas to co-exist by inhibiting direct or explicit acknowledgement and interaction between separate compartmentalized self-states. Splitting behavior is the result of the compartmentalization of accurate facts or complex situations, in order to remove the conflicting details that cause one internal anxiety.

False Truce

False Truce is a Victim-Victimizer software mind control archetype that is used to target spiritually developing people. This is one of the Controller Programs that is a sub program of the Victim-Victimizer software program and a collective miasm that has accumulated over many generations.

As the Victimizer Archetypes and related programs that are embedded in the cellular matrix are very enhanced now, especially in adjunct to Life Review patterns for many of us now on the ascension path. This is explosive for some of us now, and I am observing these traps for ensnarement, and like Addiction, are jaws attempting to latch on to our vulnerability.

A False Truce is when a person who has had a conflict with another person, is not interested in resolution or ending the conflict, but in promoting the conflict further. This is the guise of pretending that they are perfectly okay with whatever conflict had transpired. Because they have not accepted any Accountability to their role in the conflict, they will usually spread gossip, defame the character of the other person (Character Assassination), to retaliate for the self-justification they made up from their Ego Defense Mechanisms.

Character Assassination

Character Assassination is a deliberate and sustained process that aims to destroy the credibility and reputation of a person, institution, social group, or nation. Agents of character assassinations employ a mix of open and covert methods to achieve their goals, such as raising false accusations, planting and fostering rumors, and manipulating information.

Character assassination is an attempt to tarnish a person’s reputation. It may involve exaggeration, misleading half-truths, or manipulation of facts to present an untrue picture of the targeted person. It is a form of defamation and can be a form of ad hominem argument.

For living individuals targeted by character assassination attempts, this may result in being rejected by their community, family, or members of their living or work environment. Such acts are often difficult to reverse or rectify, and the process is likened to a literal assassination of a human life. The damage sustained can last a lifetime or, for historical figures, for many centuries after their death.

In practice, character assassination may involve Doublespeak, spreading of rumors through Malicious Gossip, innuendo or deliberate misinformation on topics relating to the subject’s morals, integrity, and reputation. It may involve spinning information that is technically true, but that is presented in a misleading manner or is presented without the necessary context. For example, it might be said that a person refused to pay any income tax during a specific year, without saying that no tax was actually owed due to the person having no income that year, or that a person was sacked from a firm, even though he may have been made redundant through no fault of his own, rather than being terminated for cause.

Transference

Transference is a phenomenon characterized by unconscious redirection of feelings from one person to another. One definition of transference is the inappropriate repetition in the present time of a relationship pattern from the past that was important in a person’s childhood, to which the conflict was never resolved. Another definition is the redirection of feelings and desires and especially of those unconsciously retained from childhood toward a new object or person. Still another definition is the reproduction of emotions relating to repressed experiences buried in the unconscious mind, and the substitution of another person to be thought to be the cause of these buried emotions, instead of uncovering the original object or causal event of the repressed impulses.

Splitter Tech

Splitter Tech is a type of AI encoding that run as a Mind Control script that is embedded into a variety of types of media, such as written words, spoken words of an infected individual, video or audio recordings, that can pass on that same scripted code to another person that resonates with that same frequency or information. It reveals a profile that is commonly observed in very academic or intellectually controlled or developed people, and tends to be attached to highly mentalized persons with dominating Negative Egos, judgmental perceptions and little to no heart opening. When a person is aware of the NAA and is also aware of the fact that Controller forces have a Psychopathic personality, this means they have Lack of Empathy, and no true developed Compassion for others, as they do not have a Soul, and thus cannot experience any higher emotional spectrum. They are indeed, heart-less, and unable to feel emotions and ruled by instinctual forces.

To a coherent, clear and energetically balanced person, when reading words or being exposed to Splitter Tech script, it feels like your brain is getting scrambled and thoughts are scattering, and maintaining clear focus is nearly impossible. It also is sprayed as implants to divert attention and focus within a group environment, as one person may be a booby trap with Splitter Tech that is used to disrupt or divide and conquer the entire group objectives. Patterns include running AI induced embedded code through a “signal” that may influence a splitting effect, also known as ‘bi-polar’ or Bi-Wave Influences to align the target or subject to Metatronic Reversal, Metatronic Spiral or Entropic Systems of energy.

As one learns how to refocus one’s thoughts, one prevents overwhelming states of emotion from triggering impulsive behaviors and angry reactions into splitting behaviors. As one develops strong impulse control they are learning a form of ego discipline through applied patience and diligence. If we check in and find that we do not like what we may be feeling, we can learn better the reasons for that by further shifting into the observer mode. In our community, we call that process of observing as shifting from identifying with a thought or feeling by moving ourselves into the compassionate witness. As a Compassionate Witness we have no judgment of thoughts or feelings, we hold no judgment of what we are observing in the external, we only observe those thoughts and feelings in our self and others. When we can fully observe through our own Compassionate Witness, we then become neutral and centered. Then, we can immediately find relief from our inner anxiety, fears and a host of other thought distortions. This process is key to shifting ego defense mechanisms, thought addiction tendency and releasing the anxiety or fear of feeling emotional depth or pain that contributes to splitting behaviors. By continually using an ego defense mechanism to avoid facing the source causation of the anxiety or deeply rooted fear, (which is unresolved pain or trauma) we are only perpetuating the mental looping which uses denial of the truth in order to avoid feeling pain or discomfort. Denial of accurate accounts of the truth is the seed of all Ego Defense Mechanisms that stunt our continuing path of emotional and spiritual development.

In truth, that headline is misleading. This list is merely a starter set, not the be-all and end-all assuring spiritual bliss. (And what’s so mystical about the number 7 anyway, other than that it appears to boost book sales?) As the unofficial and self-declared Stephen Covey of spirituality, I add this encouraging caveat: just like bad habits you can’t break, the same can be said of good habits. Try some of these, reap the rewards — those would be love for and from others, love for yourself, love in general — and they will become addictive, giving rise to many other random acts of spiritual goodness that will take over your life.

#1 Highly Spiritual People Give Rather Than Take.

To give is indeed divine. Some research on altruism suggests people commit selfless deeds precisely because such acts make them feel good, therefore refuting the notion of selflessness. Hogwash. Is breathing selfish? If we didn’t give, and give generously, we’d die. I really believe that. Giving is human nature; it’s just that we forget our own Spirit-Nature sometimes. Giving can take many forms; simply paying attention to someone is a gift.

#2 They Say Yes More Than They Say No.

Naysayers are a downer. “No” closes our hearts like cholesterol. (Naturally, this excludes saying “No” to drugs or other self-destructive, noxious or illegal behaviors.) “Yes” affirms life. People always would rather hear yes rather no. Unless it’s when you ask your doctor, “Do I have herpes?”

#3 They See Possibilities, Not Problems.

As Shunryu Suzuki writes: “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities; in the expert’s mind there are few.” And this may be the only time you hear Norman Vincent Peale quoted right after Suzuki-roshi, but there is something to the power of positive thinking, if not “The Power of Positive Thinking.” Spiritual people are optimists. They believe in belief. They are the lemon-to-lemonade folks, the problems-as-opportunites advocates, the positive spin
Masters.

#4 They Walk A Mile in Your Shoes.

They understand that empathy means feeling another’s pain but not so much that they take on others’ pain and become another’s pain. With that empathy, they tend to know exactly what to say or do for you to make you feel better. In gratitude, we say to them, “You are a saint.” Even when we do not mean it literally, it is true — literally.

#5 They Count Blessings in Small Wonders.

They do not expect Spirit to appear accompanied by fire and brimstone and a big neon sign flashing in the sky. They are not waiting for the Big A-ha. Nor are they waiting for the cure to cancer, the job promotion, or the love of a lifetime. They appreciate the tiny details: the smile of a child, the sparkle in an old person’s eyes, the morning’s first ray of sunlight. While others have recommended not to sweat the bad small stuff, spiritual people savor the good small stuff.

#6 They Give Compliments Generously, Accept Them with Humility.

There is no limit to people’s need for praise and appreciation. I suspect that even Donald Trump deep down is desperate for a compliment. Spiritual people do not see people’s “need” for support as a weakness or flaw. They see it as a cry for love, and they comply without hesitation. On the other hand, those who respond to a compliment with grandiose objections and deflections, who cannot accept a compliment with grace, probably feel they are not worthy of it. But they are worthy of it. Even the Don is worthy of it.

#7 They Worship Where and When the Spirit Moves Them.

They don’t need a temple or church to practice their spirituality, nor do they need a Sunday morning service at 10 a.m. They don’t even need a rabbi or a priest or a lama or sensei. Their spiritual setting is a forest, a beach, a mountain top. Their setting is a movable spiritual feast, for they know the true spiritual setting is within. And it travels with, and within, them wherever they go.

#8 They Laugh a Lot

Have you noticed? Santa ho-ho-ho’s his way down the chimney. The Dalai Lama giggles his way to enlightenment. Alfred E. Neuman has that eternal grin. The Laughing Buddha is, well, laughing. Spiritual people are happy. Not just the smiley-face kind of happy, but the deep-down-content kind of happy. If you have trouble getting to happy, try this trick I learned years ago from no less a sage source than the musical “Bye Bye Birdie”: “Just put on a happy face.” The act of smiling alone triggers a happy hormonal shift, from “gloomy mask of tragedy” to “spreading sunshine all over the place.” And what could be more spiritual than that?

So, let’s get to the point.

  1. Source created perfection
  2. You and I are part of that perfection
  3. We inherited the DNA of Source, and we said, “Hey, you know what, we want to also create perfection.”
  4. Source put up a curtain, and created imperfection so that we could create perfection again.

That’s it.

Our imperfect world was created so we could create perfection, instead of having it given to us. It’s like a picture puzzle. Source created this elaborate painting and we said, “Wow, what a painting! We want to create one like that.” So Source made it into a picture puzzle, separating the pieces so we could put it back together.

The chaos in our lives, the distance we feel with others — and within ourselves — is all an illusion. It’s because of the space that was created when all the pieces were pulled apart.

The effort we came here to do is to remove the space. Every time we snap the pieces together – BOOM – another piece of perfection appears in our lives.

Imagine if you were a five year old kid and I said, “Here’s a puzzle, it’s already assembled.” Would you enjoy it? No. The first thing you’d do is shake it up in the box, creating space between the pieces. The more you’d shake it up, the more chaotic it would become.

Then you’d dump it out on the floor and start building the puzzle. That’s when the fun would begin.

That’s what effort’s all about. Happiness given to us doesn’t feel like happiness. Happiness that we create – now that feels like happiness!

Create your happiness this week. Create your certainty. Create your love. If there is pain and struggle in your life, then remind yourself of the picture puzzle. Remember the Light is there, perfect, and that you asked for the sweat on your brow simply so that you could feel the satisfaction of being a Creator.

And know that whatever you are struggling with will have a positive result.

Take a moment now, and think to yourself, what would make today the best day ever?

As a response to the question above, you might have said something like, “Today would be great if I could spend some time outside, get to the gym and have a great lunch with a friend.”

These are actually things you can orchestrate for yourself! It’s a simple concept, but a powerful one.

We are big into personal development and the belief that life is what you make it. We have found that there are six key habits you can build into your day that are proven to majorly dial up how fulfilled and contented you feel at the end of it.

If you can do two or three of these simple activities first thing in the morning before your schedule really starts, you will already have achieved something and gained a feeling of satisfaction. It’s a great way to forge on confidently through the day.

Here are the six habits:

Gratitude

We tend to travel through the day with a million things buzzing around in our brains. Things to do, things to remember, things we’re worried about. These are generally stressful or negative things — or neutral at best.

Practicing gratitude is an easy way to consciously channel some positivity from within. It’s easy — just grab a pen and paper, or your note-taking app on your smartphone, and write down three to five things that you are thankful for today.

It could be something very specific, like the way you got recognized at work for doing a good job on that presentation. Or it could be general, like the fact that your children are healthy and safe. Or the fact that you have so much healthy food in the fridge.

These things might seem silly, but it’s important to remember that not everyone has what you have. We all have so much that is worth feeling grateful for!

Studies show that writing down a few things you’re thankful for each day goes a long way toward the overall feeling of happiness. Practicing gratitude is one of the easiest ways to increase the satisfaction you feel with life. It’s a great way to remind yourself of the good things in life, and the big picture, rather than getting wrapped up in the small stresses and obstacles of the day.

Sunlight

As soon as you wake up in the morning, take a few minutes to step outside, breathe the fresh air, and soak in some sun. Even if it’s winter and you have to bundle up — exposing your eyes to natural light outdoors cues your brain to feel alert, alive and productive.

If you can, expose your skin (at least face and arms) to sunlight for 20 minutes a day around midday. This is great for your immunity and vitamin D levels!

Get your heart pumping

We know that everyone harps on about exercise, but this isn’t another refrain about going to the gym. We’re talking about just a couple of minutes here and there to get your blood and lymph fluid coursing through your body.

Do 20 jumping jacks in the bathroom, or get down and do a 30-second plank, or run up the stairs. This is a great way to oxygenate the brain and tissues, and relieve built-up stress, too. Try to build in at least four sessions of increased heart rate (even briefly) per day.

Social connection

Connecting with other people is vital for emotional well-being. Try sitting down for a cup of tea with a colleague, or even getting back on the phone! Email and text messaging is too impersonal. Hearing your friend or loved one’s voice will warm your heart and give you a moment to treasure all day long!

Meditation

You don’t have to be a monk on a hilltop to meditate. This really just comes down to taking a quiet moment to yourself to clear your mind.

Legs up before bed

Again, this is a very simple practice, but a powerful one. Before going to bed, simply sit down, scooch your bum up to the wall and lie down with your legs straight up. This pose does wonders for any tension in the pelvis, lower back, neck and shoulders. It also prevents blood clots and varicose veins in the legs. You will immediately breathe deeper and sleep easier after having done this for five minutes each night.

We encourage you to carve out a little time in your schedule to do these six simple things for yourself. In as little as a few days, you will notice something has changed.

You will no longer go to bed feeling like you’ve spent all day chasing something and barely caught it by the tail. You will feel calmer and more fulfilled. Try it today, there’s nothing to lose!
