FIONA EDGAR: “Neptune Retrograde Will Bring Us A Deception-Filled Summer”

“It’s important to read through the lines and rely on intuition rather than the words of others around us or the media. During this period it’s vital that we allow ourselves to know and fully experience the truth, no matter how ugly it is, than to be comforted by lies.”

~Fiona Edgar

Neptune starts its retrograde journey tomorrow on June 21st — the summer solstice — at 18° Pisces and will appear to travel backward through the skies until the 27th of November, where it will turn direct at 15°. The retrograde is an optical illusion but its energetic effects are very real and affect us profoundly on a spiritual level.

The chart for the retrograde features a square between Jupiter and Neptune which increases the risk of confusion, illusion and deception and making important decisions may feel difficult. On the positive side, Saturn in sextile to Neptune will help us to see the truth and we’ll be rewarded for acting accordingly and not buying into any fantasies. Neptune retrograde acts as a doorway to real spiritual and emotional progress as long as we use self-awareness and remain open to identifying and working on our flaws, rather than pretending that they don’t exist or blaming others for our problems. Above anything else, remaining moral and doing the right thing will bring us the best results, even though it may seem like the more challenging option.

During this transit we’re being given the opportunity to see our lives more clearly, letting go of any fantasies and illusions and to live in truth, bringing healing to our relationships and any wounds from the past that have continued to cause confusion. This is a good time to conquer any addictions such as smoking, alcohol and drugs and dissolve the more negative Neptunian traits such as embellishing the truth or playing the victim.

Some of the lessons of this retrograde may involve dealing with situations that call for us to use discernment and we should avoid starting relationships or getting tangled up in situations that are based on lies or deception as these will cause loss and pain later on. It’s important to read through the lines and rely on intuition rather than the words of others around us or the media. During this period it’s vital that we allow ourselves to know and fully experience the truth, no matter how ugly it is, than to be comforted by lies. Regular meditation is a tool that will help us over the next few months as it’s much easier to live with honor and truth when we’re in touch with our own spirits. It’s almost impossible to fool someone who has developed their intuition so we should make working on this a priority.

The energies of this transit will help us to focus and make better choices and it’s a good time to take a look back at our lives and identify any situations where we created karma due to making the wrong decisions that had a negative impact on other people, or by doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. When we find ourselves in the same repeating situation with different people, maybe it’s time to figure out why we’re allowing them into our lives, or how we can change the cycle and hack reality. This is something that can easily be identified by our birth charts.

Working with the highest frequencies of Neptune retrograde will allow us to gain a more clear understanding of our hopes and dreams for the future and the universe will support us in making those dreams a reality. We may find the tools to build something that once seemed impossible and we may have an epiphany about issues that have been bothering us for the last few months.

SARA COUGHLIN: “Uranus Has Another Trick Up Its Sleeve And Yes — That Trick Is A Retrograde”

Take a deep breath, stargazers. Now that August has arrived, we’re in the home stretch of summer 2018, aka the summer of retrogrades.

Before we’re out of the woods, however, Uranus would like to join the fun. The planet of sudden change, revolution, and upheaval begins its annual retrograde on Tuesday, August 7.

This isn’t Uranus’ first attempt to stir the pot this year. Back in May, this planet moved into Taurus which, as astrologer Kimberly Peta Dewhirst told Refinery29 at the time, kicked off a new astrological era of change, particularly around how we use money and care for the Earth.

Where that process will take place over the next seven years, Uranus’ retrograde only lasts five months — and, while Uranus in Taurus is expected to exert changes on an external, global scale, Uranus retrograde will incite changes within us.

Retrogrades have a way of urging us to focus on our inner lives. Think about how Mars retrograde tests our tempers or Jupiter retrograde interrogates our approach to learning.

Viewed from this angle, planetary retrogrades are just regularly scheduled lessons we have to learn in order to make personal progress. Uranus retrogrades are no exception. Specifically, they’re thought to show us how we might adapt to the ever-shifting world around us — if we let them, that is.

As astrologer Jamie King writes, these periods tend to arrive in time to help us either adjust our outlook to fit a recent development or prepare for future growth. In case you haven’t been reading your horoscope, this summer’s eclipse season (two occurred last month and there’s one more to come on August 11) is likely to set off plenty of changes in our lives, professional andpersonal. So, yes, we’d consider this year’s Uranus retrograde to be extremely well-timed.

That said, you probably won’t feel this retrograde’s influence in the same way that you’re feeling, say, the current Mercury retrograde. Uranus’ distance from Earth makes its effects on our personal lives pretty subtle, if not downright sneaky.

You might find yourself coming around on a plan you initially resisted or you might learn something new that leads you to view a change at work in a whole new light. These shifts in your mindset will occur gradually and may seem minor at first, but they’re likely to lead to bigger, even major, progress.

For the record, when we say “progress,” we simply mean forward movement — Uranus likes to affect great change, but it’s less concerned with who benefits from it. With luck, you’ll receive the cues of this retrograde and learn to roll with the good and the bad that comes your way in the next five months.

SANDRA VARCAS: “Mercury Retrograde In Capricorn And Sagittarius: Dec 19th, 2016 — Jan 8th, 2017”

Our True Face

Conjunct Pluto as it stations retrograde in Capricorn, this is an incisive Mercury with little patience for subjectivity, or sensitivity for that matter!  We may be disappointed if we want life to go gently with our feelings as the year closes, for there are more potent agendas at work, in service of truth-telling and revelation no matter the cost.  This Mercury wants to squeeze the last drops of wisdom out of 2016 before the new year begins, and won’t let anything be swept beneath the carpet for a more convenient time.  In the spirit of effective closure and resolution of unfinished business, this is an important time to clear the air and face up to whatever in our life has become undeniable.

It has been an explosive year, what with the Uranis/Eris conjunction and the Saturn/Neptune square The personal and collective shadow is being purged.  Brought to light for all to see, it has at times triggered panic and despair alongside strengthened commitment to forge new paths and a deepening of faith in our ability to both endure and transform.  We are immersed in this process now, and will be for quite some time.  We are nowhere near out of the woods.  Far from it.  And this melting pot of sometimes traumatic change cannot be escaped.  Renewal of our commitment to a radical realignment with a more vibrant, courageous and heart-centered existence will become increasingly vital in the months ahead.  Meanwhile, Mercury insists that we face up to the truths of our lives, the secrets we guard and the shame we feel but deny.  It deplores artifice and rejects pretense.  This Mercury seeks only the straight-up truth which it insists we honor with every breath.

Doing so may not come naturally, but the more deeply we embrace unpalatable truths the freer we become.  It’s okay to not be the person we want to be or have insisted we are.  It’s alright to be flawed, messed up, an emotional wreck barely getting by!  At this juncture it’s not what we are that matters, but how honest we are about it.  If we present a face to the world which isn’t as real as it could be, obscuring aspects of our nature we’d prefer to deny, this Mercury retrograde could see our true face exposed for all to see.  If, however, we can simply let go and accept this is me, warts and all, like it or lump it and take me as you find me, we may just discover that the rejection we feared is replaced with love and support, acceptance and deepening respect.

Above all, it is now vital to remember the more candid we can be about our own truth, the less others will have to hide.  What we do for one we do for all, and the more people who add honesty and authenticity to the collective soup, the easier it becomes for us all to do the same.  We are none of us perfect in egoic eyes, and yet all are precious gems through the eyes of love.  The more we can love our own flaws and failings, quirks, foibles and idiosyncrasies the easier it becomes to accept those of others and see beyond the charade of who we pretend to be.

There is much to be done in the coming year.  Great challenges lie ahead and we are nowhere near done with this shadow revelation.  But we can each contribute to a more tolerant and progressive world by dropping our own pretense, embracing the truth of who we are and daring to share it with those around us, knowing that doing so helps them do the same.  What we endeavor to hide will be unceremoniously revealed; where we aim to deceive, we will fail; what we pretend, will be exposed as a lie.  On this we can absolutely rely as Mercury and Pluto do their work deep within the fabric of our lives.  But truth, authenticity, honesty and good-natured humor — even in the face of our greatest challenges — will all contribute to an atmosphere of acceptance, support and love, allowing compassion to rise like a bubble and dissolve even the most well-crafted and deep-rooted lie.
